Lagos State Will Generate N3trillion Annually - Ogungbo

The Special Adviser to Governor Sanwoolu on Taxation and Revenue Ogungbo has reaffirmed the determination of the State Government towards increasing its revenue base to show the way for other states as the Centre of Excellence.

Speaking during an interview at a programme organised by the Epe Club, the vibrant political appointee spoke on the activities of the Epe Club among other issues relating to the state. Excerpts:

Q: The Epe Club has inaugurated new executive members, what do you have to say to this?

A: The previous executive members of the Club have done extremely well by undertaking several programs and projects that have moved the club a step further and I will like to encourage the new executive members led by Chief Olayemi Dada to continue in that direction and ensure that they meet up with the expectation of the members and continue to give their best for Epe division through adequate planning and strategy.

Q: You are the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on taxation, talking about improving the IGR of the state, what is your position?

A: We have currently moved above one trillion naira annually and we are working very hard to generate three trillion naira annually by expanding our tax net, going horizontally without necessarily increasing the revenue payment of the people. We will look inward to ensure that there are no tax evaders and we will encourage them to fulfil their obligations to the government as this will equip the government to provide necessary infrastructure.

Q: What is your message to youths out there who want to join politics?

A: They should rededicate themselves towards nation building and they must appreciate God for giving them the grace to display their talent.
